I know there's supposed to be a special rank for assistants, but does that take away the newbie one & replace it with an assistant rank? If yes, it's not showing up under each assistant's name. If not, I can't see the newbie rank for me & some other newbie assistants.

Yes, when you are premoted to Assistant, The "Newbie" rank is replaced with Assistant

I see that too Appless, but then i see a very minute teal box below that. I mean is there a metal or a thing like when it says newbie & it has a spaceship & the background is blue or something?

Yes, I can see what you mean. If you wish that Assistant rank also had random colour ackround with a space ship, like Newbie, Member, Moderator, Founder, etc., you can always mail Jordan Goodall.
